This is my second Michael Lister Book and he is an extraordinary writer. I love the real life stories that are part of his books, and that they take place in the South. His characters are all relatable.I read the last book of the series then went back to the first which I think will be no problem. I understand John Jordan's background better and will read the last book again when I get back to it.
This book had so many turns like a roller coster. Alfred Hitchcock couldn't come up with that many suspects and have you wondering who? Even with power of elimination I would have never had the killer on my suspect list. Lister has a way of making you look at everybody but the culprit. I'm so glad I found his writing. He has quickly made it into my top 20 list and I love to read. I highly recommend his writing if you like crime mysteries serial killers but more true life. He brings up recent cases and interjects other cases familiar into his writing that keep it interesting.

I had never read anything by him before. They were basically average books as far as plotting, dialogue and twists. All enjoyable but not standouts. They were not expensive which is why I bought them.
Blood moon is a very typical Michael Lister novel. A lot of mystery, a lot of excitement, a little sex and too much vulgar language. Over all its worth your time and money.
The Juxtaposition of the violence of the prison with John's efforts to be a good Christian chaplain just blew me away. I felt that I was reading my morning prayers. Fantastic. Although I would have inserted some paragraphs to make it clearer who was speaking.
When I discovered Michael Lister (John Jordan) I enjoyed the first book and went online to find the series. I have been reading the John Jordan mysteries for just over a month and I am almost done with Book 11. The first 3 books should hook you on the entire series. Michael Lister does a great job of developing characters you want to get to know.
There is always a lot of mini stories all intertwined in the reading of these books. You are never bored but maybe running to catch up trying to figure it all out. So far in the 9 books I have yet to be able to see the whole picture till it is revealed at the end. TY Michael for your intriguing stories and ability to keep the books engrossing.
Great box set that leaves your mind blown after each book. Definitely three of the darker books in my opinion in the John Jordan series so far, but if you like suspense you will LOVE these books. Just be sure not to ask the question, "How much more can this guy take?" because when you think it cant get any worse...it does! But mixed in there is a great love story that helps soothes the soul after so much darkness.
I blew through the first six John Jordan mysteries and am reading #7 which is actually a prequel. Mr. Lister makes the main character very real and human, in my view. No iron resolve and super cop heroics here. I find the religious/theological sections interesting and often encouraging and even inspirational at times.
These are not heavy on investigative technique or CSI type procedures. The solutions to the mystery are developed through conversations and observations.
The solution to the mystery isn't inadvertently revealed early on like so many others. I especially appreciate not having everything tidily wrapped up at the end. Things are often left unresolved which lends a sense of reality to the stories.
