Robert Kireu has been a lifelong leader, a voice for social justice, civility and the public good. An extraordinary athlete, a civil rights hero, aide to two American presidents, and a successful businessman who always gives back to his community. But when the politically motivated deaths of his loved ones push him over the edge, the wheels come off, and a "new" Robert Kireu emerges. Robert dedicates himself to a different form of "justice," a wave of political violence that he pursues without any qualms or second thoughts. As the bodies of the rich and powerful begin to pile up, the nation's elites suddenly feel a vulnerability they had never known. Then, to his surprise, copycats emerge, producing further mayhem and spreading fear. Finally, "the Big One," the culmination to the cascading violence, and all of its unforeseen consequences.

The Arc A Work of Fiction Roberto Vincent I Jackson 9781537236360 Books

“The Arc” satisfies the need for swift and final solutions to the oligarchy that America has become in a “work of fiction”. Anyone who has read the all-too-non-fiction “Dark Money” and who has asked, “What are we going to do about the Koch Brothers,” (and a lot of other untenable situations) will appreciate Vincent’s riotous, phantasmagorical answer. Warning: the story gets a slow start...don’t give up, the last two parts move swiftly toward the hysterical, if gruesome, end.

The Arc A Work of Fiction Roberto Vincent I Jackson 9781537236360 Books Reviews

This book is a compelling summer read. The main character as young boy/man is a bit too good to be true, the best at everything sports. He never misses a catch, a throw, a kick, a field goal. I expected he would soon leap over tall buildings in a single bound. I kept reading, waiting for him to fail at SOMETHING. AND, he has a sense of social justice way before it came into vogue, a nerd before it was cool to be one. The older adult Robert uses these qualities to execute...a perfect plan to rid the world of symbolic bad guys as defined by his moral compass. All of this takes place before the 2016 election. I can't wait to see what he cooks up next.
I am not certain why the author, Roberto Vincent, (a pseudonym?) reminds me of my favorite science fiction writer, C.S. Lewis. The Arc has nothing in common with Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia much less with the Screwtape Letters. I don't even think the book should properly be labelled as science fiction. Science is is not. Fiction it definitely is. Fiction all the way. That's what makes it intriguing from the very first page. Vincent makes it clear from the very beginning that his hero is definitely a fictitious character. By the time Robbie was in the sixth grade he made first string on the school football team. His speciality was place kicking, When you learn that Robbie was kicking the ball almost fifty yards you suspend your belief because Robbie is such a modest, unassuming a thoroughly likeable kid. Robbie's coaches note that he rarely made the same mistake twice, and never three times. by the end of the season, he has become that team quarterback. Robbie learns how to handle bullies. Robbie continues with his modest ways. Robbie has become the star of the football team. You guessed it. He later becomes the star of the basketball team. But his favorite sport is baseball. But Robbie has a different attitude from the other kids when a fly ball bounces over the center fielder's head and the team became angry with the center fielder, Robbie just takes it all philosophically. "It's only a game," he says. But the best part comes when Maria enters Robbie's life, and when they meet President Kennedy and Bobby Kennedy and best of all, LBJ. I loved the part when they recall what they were doing the day JFK was assassinated. The best part of all? When Robbie's psychoanalyst tells him that he has a "hero-zero" complex.
This was one of the fastest reads of a book I have had in some time. I was between books and picked this up, and a day and a half later I was finished. Extremely engrossing, it is one big fantasy, at first cheerful and then becoming darker and darker. But ironically, the darker it becomes the more fun it is to read. At times its episodes reminded me of Scenes We'd Like to See from Mad Magazine. Everyone eventually gets his or her comeuppance, often in very creative ways. The author has a clever and devious mind - probably not someone you would want to cross in real life.
Gripping and inventive. The Arc dramatically speaks to the social ills of America in a twisting narrative; a non-stop read.
Quick and compelling read. Very timely. Pulls on those of us who have patiently colored in the lines and find ourselves tempted to shred the paper...
Really a good story. Captures the feel of the time periods as you move through "The Arc". Don't let the impossible athletic prowess of the main character put you off. Once the brothers leave the restaurant and spot the Maybach, the story takes off. Becomes a great read.
Wow. "The Arc" is one of the most humorous books I have ever read, and also one of the most disturbing. A contemporary fantasy bordering on the real that leaves the reader deeply troubled. This book answers a need that many of us have to fix the outrageousness in contemporary
America, albeit with methods that we abhor.
